The Job Market In SD&G Is Holding Up

The diversity of the job market in Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry allows the region to better withstand periods of economic uncertainty, according to the Eastern Ontario Training Board. Retail trade accounts for about 19 per cent of job postings, as do health care and social services. Skilled trades, transportation and equipment operation account for more than a quarter of job postings. The Commission believes that this diversity may offset a slowdown in some sectors, but is monitoring regional unemployment.
