Maison Interlude Wants To Amend By-law

By Derrick Scott Apr 23, 2026 | 8:19 AM

Maison Interlude wants to amend a municipal bylaw in Hawkesbury, which has been in effect since 1998, because it regulates rooming houses and shelters with rules deemed too similar to those of long-term care facilities. According to the organization, it imposes protocols on insulin administration, drug distribution and infectious disease management, among other things, that are ill-suited to an emergency shelter for women. Interlude therefore asks for separate guidelines, better adapted to the reality of a shelter. The council has instructed the administration to study a revision of the regulations.
