SDG Councillor Wants Land Transfer Tax Rebate For First Time Home Buyers Reviewed

SDG United Counties Councillor Andrew Guindon is calling on Ontario to review the land transfer tax rebate for first-time home buyers. The current $4,000 limit only covers properties worth about $368,000, a threshold that is considered to be exceeded. His motion, adopted by council, proposes to increase eligibility to $675,000 to reduce the cost of buying resale homes, which are often chosen by first-time buyers.
