M.G.B. Ventures, an Alexandria-based company that operates six Tim Hortons restaurants in Alexandria, Hawkesbury, L’Orignal, Saint-Isidore and Vankleek Hill, is experiencing significant financial difficulties. It plans to sell at least three establishments in order to pay off some of its debts, including $1.6 million owed to the Canada Revenue Agency. The company says restrictions on the Temporary Foreign Worker Program have contributed to its difficulties; 41 of its 156 employees came from the program. It has until Nov. 9 to present a restructuring plan to its creditors.
