Alfred will have a new fire station and an ambulance station by next June. The council of Alfred-Plantagenet has selected Bircon Canada to renovate and expand the former PilComm building on Main Street, in order to bring it up to provincial standards for emergency services. The project is valued at approximately $2.2 million. The work, which has already begun, is expected to be completed in early summer 2026, allowing the fire department to move to modernized facilities.
