Canada Post Strike: Town of Hawkesbury Unable To Send Or Receive Invoices By Mail

By Derrick Scott Oct 2, 2025 | 1:46 PM

The Town of Hawkesbury informs its residents that, due to the Canada Post strike, it is currently unable to send or receive invoices by mail for water/sewer/waste fees.

Billing will still take place on October 15, 2025. However, to allow users to obtain their invoices despite the situation, the payment deadline initially set for October 31, 2025, has been extended to November 28, 2025.

It is important to note that after this date, late fees will be applied to all unpaid invoices.

How to Get Your Invoice Invoices for water, sewer, and waste fees will be available:

· By email, through the Town’s online billing system. Residents who are not yet registered can do so by November 4, 2025: https://www.hawkesbury.ca/en/online-billing-form

· In person, at Town Hall (600 Higginson Street, Hawkesbury).

The Town strongly encourages residents to register for online billing, a sustainable and convenient solution that helps avoid issues related to postal service interruptions.

In addition, anyone who registers by November 4, 2025, will automatically be entered into a draw for $200 in gift cards.

Payment Options During the strike, several payment methods are available. Details can be found on the Town’s website in the News section: https://www.hawkesbury.ca/en/news

Important Notes

· If you mailed a cheque before the strike began, the Town recommends cancelling it and using one of the alternative payment methods listed above to avoid late fees.

· Once postal services are restored, residents who have not subscribed to online billing will receive their invoice as usual. If your invoice has already been paid, please disregard it.
